The Golden Standard of Hipcamp
Mike is a dream host. The land itself is beautiful and there are plenty of things to do around the property. We kayaked down Edisto River, toured the honey and blueberry farm, and enjoyed nights around the fire at our campsite (#5). If you get a chance to stay here, do NOT pass it up!

A++
I would HIGHLY recommend the farm! Being a solo female I felt very safe. The best part was I was alone, the sites are spaced far enough apart I felt like I had my own spot in the woods. The site is spacious partially shaded and I parked my little camper under a lovely tree. Very much enjoyed relaxing next to the fire ring, listening to the owl chorus, and my the nearby river, seeing dragonflies and lightning bugs. Both farm dogs stopped by to say hello and I enjoyed watching them play together and chase each other! In the morning I watched a hawk hunt for food and talk briefly to the owner who is very pleasant and explained his plans for expanding the camping spots among the blueberry fields. I’ve camped across the USA, Florida to Maine. This place ranks in the top 5 I’ve ever been. I’d definitely camp here again and sincerely wish the owners success in their future endeavors!

The spot was perfect, right along the creek with plenty of privacy and room to roam! I loved there being a bath and shower nearby. I made a small fire in the fire ring right before a storm passed through! I appreciate that the host met me when I arrived and answered all questions I had. I also was very thankful that the hosts allowed me to stay here despite having to cancel due to illness 2 weeks before! I will definitely come back for the honey tasting!

Beautiful, but things to consider
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The property is beautiful and was very fun to explore. Unfortunately, the mosquitos were terrible (visited in early May). They were particularly horrendous around sites 4 and 5. Obviously, people can't control mosquitoes, but if this is something you do not want to have to deal with or worry about, I would caution against this site. The mosquitoes weren't as bad in other areas of the property, but they were bothersome pretty much everywhere. Sites 4 and 5 both had large areas of standing water while I was there and the river borders the far back end of these site areas, so I'd recommend the other sites if you want to help reduce mosquito presence. The other frustrating thing was the farm dogs that roamed the property. My group had two dogs with us and the farm dogs showed up at our site multiple times and incessantly barked (once at 4am, waking us up, and they barked for about 20 minutes) and the other times during the day. We also encountered them while exploring trails on the property and they followed us around barking, which was a frustrating experience. Also, helpful thing to know is that while site 4 has a the canoe, it is a bit of a walk to put the canoe into the water. The water was also very murky and appeared to have a good bit of algae going on; none of my crew wanted to swim in it, but to each their own. For firewood, it is very convenient to buy some from them. They give a nice sized bundle for $10 cash or venmo once there.

This was one of the best primitive camping sights I’ve been too in a while, absolutely beautiful. The isolation provided a much needed escape from society, the river was great and felt wonderful and I look forward to coming back real soon.

Family Fun
I had no clue what HipCamp was before booking this trip. This farm is way better than any tent campsite I have used. We went with another family totaling 2 adults and 4 kids. As opposed to a small tent spot surrounded by other campers, they offer a spacious spot with privacy and a great location. The kids loved the trails and playing near the river. We fished the bluegill pond and the kids all caught some fish. At night, there is zero light pollution to sleep under the stars. Alex, who I believe is the Farm lead, was excellent and friendly. Mike, one of the owners was welcoming and has big plans for the property. I would highly recommend this space for a family weekend getaway.
