Situated at 7,000 feet, campers are surrounded by the snow covered LaSal Mountains overlooking the deep Canyonlands NP of the Colorado River escarpment, and only 30 minutes from Moab, Utah. Summer temps are much cooler here than in the surrounding canyons and valleys of the Moab area, a very pleasant retreat from the heat! Virtually ALL outdoor sporting adventures are found around here in nearly limitless abundance, including winter sports, snowmobiling, off-roading, dirt-biking, 4-wheeling, and more. Campground has outdoor-potty, free firewood with pits.

Site 2 - High Sage Hogans
Wonderful site!
Danny was a wonderful host! Very accommodating and great communication. I stayed in one of the available teepees, and it was perfect. Not too hot in the heat, stayed dry for a rain squall, spacious and comfortable. Easy drive into Moab, and amazing sunsets. There were also firepits and grills available for use. Oh, and Ringo was a wonderful pup, great with the guests and my own dog. I would definitely stay here again.

Great Hipcamp site!
Danny is an awesome host and very accommodating. Very convenient to stay at a sight that has grills and running water. The teepee was so cozy and fun to stay in!

Ringo + Gonzo + Desert Magic
Staying at Danny's site in the teepee was the highlight of my week-long desert roadtrip. The thought and charm he has put into every detail of the campsite made me feel so welcome. My dog Gonzo got along with Ringo (a Very Good Boy) like a house on fire. I really enjoyed chatting with Danny and meeting his alpaca and sheep. And I've already checked out a couple of books from the library on Danny's recommendation. Gonzo is already asking... when can we go visit again??? Thank you Danny for being you - a kind, honest soul sharing your magical little piece of desert with passers-through.

Site 3 - High Sage Hogans
Sadly not what we expected
When I spoke to Danny on the phone he was super kind and informative. The picture of the campground looked nice so we were excited about our upcoming visit. Upon arrival we were disappointed at the level of congestion on his place. His 2 acres were mainly cluttered with automobiles & DIY projects. The back portion of his yard where the “campsites” were located was overgrown with little to no room to both park & pitch a tent in the cleared area. The view of the mountains was through a fence and his neighbors yard. Ringo was very friendly & excitedly greeted us by jumping up on our SUV door. This site did not provide the views, comfort or wide open space that we were looking for. We simply made the loop and headed back towards Moab to find an alternative location to stay. Disappointed.

We had a great time staying in the Wigwam’s at Danny’s place! The views of the sunset, sunrise and stars are pretty incredible and Danny was super knowledgable and friendly! Ringo, the dog, was a very enthusiastic host also!! Overall, a beautiful and unique place to camp!

“Nice alpaca, the tipi is really cool, it’s a nice place to have a fire. Ringo the dog will lead you directly to your tipi” -Ayden, 9 years, first time staying in a tipi and very stoked about it.
