Camping near Sheridan guide

Overview

Nestled in the Ruby Valley, Sheridan offers camping experiences right next to national forests and epic national parks. Head to Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, the largest national forest in Montana, and check in at backcountry tent sites or developed RV campgrounds with full hookups near OHV trails at the Whitetail-Pipestone area. Cabin and bunkhouse rentals near the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail also provide electricity, water, and heat. An hour’s drive takes campers back in time to Bannack State Park, a well-preserved ghost town that was once a gold-mining community. The park offers year-round camping on 28 sites, including a rental tipi and a hike-in/bike-in campsite, near group picnic tables. Winter campers can visit the warming hut and skate on a frozen dredge pond. Custer Gallatin National Forest is farther away but offers additional tent and RV camping spots near Blacks Pond and Cow Creek for days spent fishing. The forest extends to Yellowstone National Park, where on-site campgrounds are within close proximity to the famous geyser.
