Beach camping in Indiana guide

Overview

Indiana has just three miles of Great Lakes shoreline, but what it lacks in length, it makes up for in glorious views. The headline act for summer vacationers is the Indiana Dunes State Park, where campers can pitch a tent or park their RV right by the beachside and enjoy swimming, bird-watching, and water sports along the lake. Inland, there are also sandy shores to be enjoyed at Pokagon State Park and Monroe Lake, where fishing, paddling, and lakeside camping draw campers from spring through fall. Snow falls along the shores of Lake Michigan from November through March, but RV campers will still find a few campgrounds open for business, and the beachside hiking trails transform into snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails through the winter season.
