Space, scenic views, a series of mountain bike tracks to test your skills, abundant wildlife, peace and quiet. Mountain biking only? Book a campsite for the day. These best describe this 754 hectare (1864 acres) property. Stonepine Ridge is 'remote' - your camp sites are away from any dwellings - but you are still close enough to country towns across borders. Map to get here ( https://stonepineridge.com.au/map/ ) There is plenty of space for social distancing. Most camp sites are 50 or more metres apart. The terrain is mostly treed with some cleared, pastured country. On the border with the Queensland town of Stanthorpe, Stonepine Ridge is close to the historic areas of Willsons Downfall and Amosfield in New South Wales. Home to many rivers that traverse the property from top to bottom, the Boonoo Boonoo and Bookookookarara rivers and Undercliffe and Boonoo Boono Falls are close by and are popular sites to spend a few hours walking/hiking and immersing yourself in the ambient countryside. The Boonoo Boonoo and Bald rock National Parks are also within this area. The beautiful New England town of Tenterfield is about 20 minutes drive from the falls and offers visitors many shopping and restaurant options. Be sure to stop en route to visit the World War 2 tank traps - (Australia's Maginot Line) and Thunderbolt's hideout. A short drive across the border into Queensland will give you access to the Girraween National Park and a host of wineries, coffee shops, restaurants and pubs. At Stonepine Ridge, some areas of the top country are accessible by 2WD when not wet but high suspension and 4wheel drive vehicles are recommended. This camping property is large and you will find no better place that allows for gentle as well as more advanced walking, hiking and mountain biking. The altitude on the property varies from 900m at the top down to 50m to the bottom. The temperature is variable with mostly cool nights, which makes for restful sleep and a nice fire to add to the ambience.

The Secret Spot
The Secret Spot
This was our third visit to Stonepine Ridge, and we will be back again. We have previously stayed at Rory's and Creekside, but chose the Secret Spot as we were late booking this time. The Secret Spot is a bit more secluded, but not completely private. It's tucked behind the trees on the northern side, so is in shade most of the day. That shade may be more welcome in summer. When it rained, it dripped off the trees most of the night, but that did not worry us. The Secret Spot is more protected from the wind than say the more exposed Creekside #4 and #5. This was good for us in Winter. The site is quite sloped, so positioning our camper and friend's caravan took a bit of effort to get level. I'm not sure what you would do here in a tent ? At the time be stayed, the closest toilet was at Creekside #4, so was a bit of a walk, but was fine. Liz is always very friendly and willing to help

The Rocks
Great spot for camping within the Glen Aplin region, a secluded location with an easy drive into Stanthorpe. Only downside was that site could have been better maintained (knee high grass and lots of cow manure) which made it a bit tricky to find a suitable place to set up camp.

Long Paddock
Lovely property! Was nice to have views of the bush and the paddock. Weather wasn't the best but our site at the top of the long paddock gave a great vista of the changes in weather and the kids loved watching the fog and clouds descend into the valley as rain came in. Sites were good for vans or small tents but if you had a larger long tent you might struggle to find a flat spot. Great to have the pit toilet within a short walk. Elizabeth is a friendly and helpful host.

Creek View
Beautiful property. Liz was very proactive with communicating and very helpful. Big sites with plenty of space between them. We stayed in the creek view sites and the only thing to be cautious of is that not all the sites are completely flat, worth reaching out to Liz when you book if you are in a tent like we were.

Rory's Lookout
Me and my pup really enjoyed our time. Imagine camping in the woods on the side of a mountain... that was our stay! When we arrived, it was a beautiful sunny day and overnight - we got hit by rain and wind. But it made for a gorgeous backdrop. We were lucky to have the campgrounds to ourselves the second night. There are walking tracks throughout, a gorgeous view point at the top of Rorys lookout and a lovely creek at the beginning of the campgrounds accessible for everyone to enjoy. The long drops were very clean and even stocked TP! Because of the weather (drizzly not rainy) the road was a bit slippery. I have a 4WD but not confident - i managed the track easily :) the property is so large and thankfully, the campsites are spread apart. Liz was so lovely making sure to check on me during the stay! We will be coming back but will try the other campsites next time
