Voted 2nd in NC!! We are a Mangalitsa farm in The Smoky Mountains of western NC. The entire property is oriented toward private farmland views, a half mile of river and surrounding mountains. It's really quite remarkable to be so accessible yet feel so remote! Come swim, fish, cook and play! Check out www.smokymtnriverranch.com for more information. PLEASE NOTE, our rate is based on the number of vehicles in your group. The first vehicle is included in the nightly rate and admits 4 campers. WE CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL CARS. The charge will be added to your booking once you select the number of vehicles at checkout. Please note that each additional car admits four campers. For EXAMPLE, 2 cars = 8 campers total. If you only have two cars but more than eight people, YOU MUST select the "Extra Person" Extra for each night they are camping. Please select these extras at checkout. If you have questions about this PLEASE message me prior to booking. Our 95-acre farm was once owned by the Davis family who predominantly raised dairy cattle. We now raise the wooly Mangalitsa pig and sell to the best chefs and restaurants. We sell our pork at the farm too! All of our campsites are next to running water except the two hilltop sites. Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. We do not allow the use of our small wooded areas as toilets. Please review the Extras options as we offer river lifts, firewood and dog stays; thank you! Quiet hours are from 10pm to 9am. Checking in before 5 pm is requested. Later times may be available with prior arrangements. Our farm is very dark and navigating at night is difficult. Please contact Catherine directly so you can be checked in safely and accommodate your schedule. NO CHECK-INS AFTER DARK. We are 1 mile off of I 40, 17 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 15 min. to Maggie Valley, 10 min to the Elk at Cataloochee, 25 min to Cataloochee ski area, 10 min to Lake Junaluska and 15 min to downtown Waynesville. Asheville is 20 miles to our East.

Site 7 Meadow
New favorite spot from a local!!! We really loved meeting Catherine who was so sweet and informative from the get go. Our spot was very secluded and hearing the sound of the creek at night was awesome. Really looking forward to coming back and trying out one of the spots along the river so I can fly fish!

Gorgeous Mountain & River Oasis
Camping at Smoky Mtn Mangalitsa Ranch was a DREAM!! Rain or shine, you will have the most enchanting and relaxing experience. We were warmly greeted by Catherine and Stetson (livestock canine protector), and Catherine gave us a run down of the farm and a fantastic “cheat sheet” with all the information we needed to know to have a safe and enjoyable visit. This was an absolutely wonderful reference to have! The views were unlike any other, the property manicured and kept to picturesque perfection, and the long walks were photograph-worthy at every point. The sounds of the river were so relaxing - we watched fly fisherman and charter fishing rafts catch fish. We saw so many animals (all of Catherine’s and Rick’s so healthy and cared for) - horses, goats, the furry pigs, robins, woodpeckers, hawks, Canadian geese and their little babies, donkeys - and Stetson. We enjoyed reading under the breezeway awning of our pop up while it gently rained. I could go on and on and just rave about the beauty and meticulous hospitality shown by our host and hostess. They keep a lush, magical oasis of mountains and river tucked away at Mangalitsa Ranch. If you decide to visit, read all rules carefully and respect and responsibly enjoy the land Catherine and Rick share so kindly and generously.

The BEST campsite in North Carolina
This may be prettiest BEST campsite in all of North Carolina. On a quiet small farm 30 mins west of Asheville. The setting is absolutely idyllic and not one I've seen anywhere before. The animals offer a unique setting with pigs, goats, donkeys, etc. The site itself sits just above the Pigeon river and worked perfectly for our small RV. The wooded laurel next to river is also free to use and would be a perfect spot for a tent. We had the place to ourselves and enjoyed every last minute. Steph and Nikki were fantastic and accommodating while allowing for our privacy. If you are looking for crowds, noise or a party, head somewhere else. If you appreciate quiet solitude in a STUNNING setting, this is the one.

This was our second stay here and just like the first time it didn't disappoint. This place is absolutely beautiful. Super easy to get to and very convenient to nearby stores and restaurants. Catherine and Rick are super nice and very accommodating. They have great sausages and bacon. I recommend taking some home.
