Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Enjoy this private dry camping site located 2 miles from Rockhound State Park with native creosote bush and yucca scattered throughout the landscape and towering views of the Florida Mountains and Dragon Ridge 1 mile away where you can spot occasional antelope and desert bighorn sheep roaming the peaks.This is ½ an acre all to yourself for tent and RV camping directly off paved Spring Canyon Rd (NM-198) and 1 mile from the Spring Canyon Recreation Area, where there are public restrooms, covered picnic gazebos and trailheads. There are plenty of hiking, mountain biking and rock hounding opportunities in the immediate area!
You will be given GPS coordinates, tripometer distance and directions from Spring Canyon Rd.
Campfires are allowed but banned during certain times of the year. You can check if there are any fire restrictions at Rockhound State Park at the time of your visit.
There are no toilets or water so campers will need to use the bathrooms at nearby Spring Canyon Recreation Area during permissible hours or bring their own. Pack in pack out policy.
Since this is a fairly new camp site, guests are allowed to remove small vegetation to make room for their vehicles and camping area but leave any yucca trees and larger bushes intact.
