The Oak Grove Communal Camp
Great area. Very secluded and lots of big rocks for kids to climb on. Ground can be uneven in a number of spots but just seek out a flat area. Fires only allowed in the 3 common area fire pits. Nice to have some facilities close by (bathroom and sink).

Redtail Rock
booked a campsite... got there and boom there is a RV parked on my site. Host says its "host" so it's a no big deal... some random on my camp site that I paid for and they tell me its no big deal. He could've been anybody.

Snails everywhere
The layout of the area and the views from the site were really great! It was also easy for us to find it in google maps. The convenient access to water was a big plus. I would not stay here again for a few reasons though. There was no smokeless firepit (what appears to be the metal fire bowl in the pictures), just a normal fire circle with rocks. The outhouse did not appear to be recently serviced/cleaned even though the site description says it is serviced frequently. The hosts were unresponsive to messages and I noticed that other campers have had issues trying to contact the hosts as well. The biggest issue was that there were snails everywhere from the time that we arrived in the evening until the sun was fully up the next day. We had to watch every step we were taking and it makes it not a great place for camping unfortunately. Lastly, I was really hoping to see some of the farm animals but I did not see any while I was there.

Peaceful Valley
Nice, but did not meet expectations
Splitrock is a truly amazing location. I really wish I could rave about how great our experience was, but a couple things fell short. We brought our Cub Scout pack for a couple nights of camping under the stars. Everyone loved the beautiful location, the bright stars in the sky and the multitude of wildlife found on the property.
What we DIDN’T love was showing up with 20 people to a portapotty that was already full and a non-functioning water spigot. Running water and access to a sanitary toilet are requirements of the scouts, so this was not a good start to our adventure.
The camp host did come and explain that the portapotty company had simply not shown up the day they were supposed to and we were basically stuck with it (aside from putting cat litter on it to temper the smell). There was running water elsewhere on the property, so we made do by driving to make water runs, but that was a pretty large inconvenience when you expect to have access to water at your site.
The scouts made the best of the situation and still had a great time, but the parents felt that we were sold a false bill of goods on a site that did not meet expectations.

The Oak Grove Communal Camp
Such a beautiful place. The views are amazing and the sites are only slightly developed so it feels closer to nature. Different options for different camping styles. Had a great time and very quiet through the night.
