Cabins near Billings guide

Overview

If you're looking for adventure in Big Sky Country, head to Billings in south central Montana. Billings is the state's largest city and sits about 4 hours from state capital Helena. The mighty Yellowstone River runs along the city's east and south borders.

Yellowstone National Park is a three-hour drive to the southwest. If you're traveling by vehicle, definitely take I-90 to the Beartooth Highway to get there. This breathtaking scenic route takes you through gorgeous high-altitude alpine country. Stop by beautiful Beartooth Lake for waterfront tent and cabin camping on the way.

Are you coming to Billings in an RV? Billings Village RV Park makes a pretty convenient layover stop if you're staying in the city proper. Here you'll find 75 spaces with full electrical hookups and Wi-Fi. Lake Elmo State Park is also within city limits. This relaxing park offers access to calmer waters than those of the Yellowstone River.

War history buffs might be interested in a visit to Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. This area marks the infamous spot of Custer's Last Stand. In addition to its historic relevance, this area is rich in reptile and amphibian wildlife. Bring your binoculars along for a chance at spotting some rare species.
