In the 1800’s it was the center of a thriving community fueled by the nearby Clover Hill coal mines and linked by railroad to Richmond and beyond. We are 10 minutes to Pocahontas State Park, 30 minutes to RVA, and a little over 60 minutes to Charlottesville, Stillbrook is a small horse farm, with twelve horses that you will find frolicking pastures throughout the property. Our farm is the perfect mix of fields, forest, and streams. Bordered on two sides by the Surline Branch… one of our favorite activities is wading through the broom and finding where it meets the Winterpock Creek. We have several tent sites located throughout the property depending on what you are looking for. Most are located near the creek. Camp fires are permitted inside the existing fire rings with all wood and kindling provided. We have beautiful two-story, 10-stall horse barn with a bathroom (sink/toilet), Keurig with locally sourced coffee, refrigerator, and large room over our barn in case of inclement weather. Set up a tent, car camp, or bring your small trailer to one of two sites on a unique property backed up to 20+ acres of woods. Imagine a hidden gem where you can relax to the sounds of rushing water and chirping birds, but can walk or bike to coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, parks or the river. If you are coming into Richmond for a Brown's Island event we are a five minute Uber to an access point using the Potterfield walking bridge (it's a beautiful walk across the James River to the island). Each campsite includes 3 level spots to pitch tents (see dimensions below), and a connected space to park one car, van or small trailer. The large parking space can be used as a fourth tent footprint if needed. There are additional parking spaces. Each site has a fire pit (with firewood on site), a grate to grill over the fire, a picnic table, and a hammock. There is a shared outbuilding with a composting toilet, hand washing sink, outdoor shower (solar warmed), and space to change privately. Accessible by car or canoe, East End at Seven Islands provides endless fun for the whole family, including your well behaved off-leash dogs. When you arrive take a cooling dip in a quiet “river pool”, relax on your private beach, or see if the fish are biting. Let your kids experience the best the river has to offer by exploring the shallows for crayfish, chasing minnows, or watching for Bald Eagles patrolling the river. Pitch your tent on the beach or under the trees if you prefer some shade. Spend your nights stargazing, enjoying a campfire (remember to bring s’mores ingredients), or fishing for catfish. This is an ideal family-oriented campsite about an hour NW of Richmond. Come, enjoy and make some memories! Children 10 and under are free. The old brick foundation you see in the pictures is all that remains of a house that was built on the island in 1895 and stood for 75 years! Reservation Camping on the Water!

Learn more about this land: Nestle on the Pamunkey Indian Reservation also known for Spiritual Healing that overlooks the Pamunkey River. The Pamunkey people have been here for over 10,000 years making this area one of the oldest reservations in the country. We have a small platform sitting right on the water for privacy and beautiful views of the river. You may see Bald Eagles, Grey Herons, Ducks, Geese, River Otters, and so much more. During low tide, the water is pulled back into the main part of the river and this is where you will see the wildlife during this time. There are up to 8 Bald Eagles here at a time and during the Spring to Fall, you will see Osprey hunting for food right in front of you and usually getting chased by the Eagles. What an awesome site to be able to camp and be a part of so many creatures all in their natural habitat. We live right up the hill. Depending on where your tent is located, you may or may not see our home. Usually you cannot but want you to be aware. When you are camping, we respect your space and privacy to the fullest. During the full moon, the water on the campsite will rise and you will need to camp closer to the land. Also, when the tied is out, you will not be able to launch the canoe or kayak. There is a short path to walk and it is a very short incline. During Spring through the fall, the museum is opened for visitors at 5.00 each visitor. We also have a gift shop where local artist showcase their items and also they are for sale. Debit, Cash and Credit Cards are accepted. Check out the Pamunkey Indian Reservation website and always call to make sure their hours haven't changed. Please note that hunting season starts in October, and you may hear the noise.
