RV camping in Michigan guide

Overview

RV camping in Michigan couldn’t be easier. With more than 10,000 lakes and more state parks and forests than any other state—your next outdoor adventure is always just a short drive away. Set out along the wild Upper Peninsula where you can park your rig right by the sand dunes in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore or road trip along the remote Keweenaw Peninsula. Ludington State Park Beach, Silver Lake State Park, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore have plenty of RV camping along the shores of Lake Michigan, and are hotspots for family campers through summer. If you’re heading Detroit way, one of the best RV campgrounds is found at Sterling State Park on the shore of Lake Erie. Fifteen state park campgrounds stay open through winter, but equip your RV with snow chains and pack your snowshoes, as snow blankets most of the state from November through March.
