Beautiful view for a biking weekend
The view was spectacular. We spent 3 nights, 2 days biking on the New River Trail. Relaxing after our day out was very refreshing. We saw bald eagles, hawks and turkey vultures. Lots of wildlife. Site was very spacious, we were the only ones in the area so very quiet. The black gravel was a little hard on the feet and dusty. It was also on odd set up with the connections in the middle of the site on the passenger side of the camper when we backed in. Usually everything is hooked up on the driver side. We made it work and the hoses were long enough. Just had to stop and readjusted a little before setting up.

Absolutely stunning view AND full hook ups! Quiet and secluded. We met up with childhood friends and set camp in sites 4, 5 and 6 and had all the privacy we could ask for. Despite an 8 hour drive for us we will definitely be back. Highly recommend booking this as fast as you can, when you pull up the hill to the site you’ll see why.

Jim’s directions were spot on! Follow the yellow signs. The site was level but a kinda loose mix - we had no trouble leveling our rig after we backed in. Looks like we had a brand new picnic table too. Fire pit was surrounded by stones and worked just fine. I do wish there was some sort of grill, but we borrowed one from our neighbors. The view was just amazing and it was an easy walk down to the bike trail along the New River. We saw two bike riders and no one else. Did I say the view was amazing?! . The wind was pretty constant and might preclude the use of many tent type shelters/sun shades. Don’t know if it was unusual for our visit, or if the wind is always blowing there. Sites 4, 5, and 6, while next to each other, do have a fairly steep hills separating them while sites 1, 2, and 3 all look flat and would be a better choice if you’re meeting others there and want to walk between the campers.

We have been here 3 or 4 times. Every time we go back improvements are done! Trail is close and well maintained. We will continue to go here as it is close to family and beats the regular camping in the area. Oh, and yes the view is absolutely amazing!
