Amazing views

The best part about this site are the views! Relax on the side of the Cumberland Plateau while overlooking Burroughs Cove and the Elk River. There is an electrical box at each end of the graveled parking area (Sites 1 & 2) with 20- and 30-amp plugs. Depending on the time of year (warmer months) a water container with a limited amount of non-potable water is on site for your use. Please plan on filling your water reservoir prior to arriving at the site. There is also an outhouse, picnic table, and a fire ring. We are located just minutes away from The Caverns, South Cumberland State Park, Bigfoot Adventures, and many other attractions. The graveled camping area is fairly close to Hwy 50 so please expect to hear some road noise. Need firewood? Please let us know at least 48 hours prior to arrival and we can coordinate to have it delivered to your campsite before you arrive, enough wood for the night (and then some) $35.

Elkhead Overlook Site #3

Beautiful site! Excellent views! The parking situation was a little iffy but, the other campers helped us back in! The incline is steep but, I was able to handle it without a problem in a boot. Our favorite part was the natural fire pit, the winds were high but, it helped reflect a lot of heat! You can hear the music playing at the caverns but, they were done around 11pm. We will keep this site in mind for next year!

Beautiful view! Close to all the trailheads. The road noise was mentioned in other reviews but it’s really not bad. We slept great! You can still hear the birds and the wind in the trees. 30A Power access was a plus.

Sonya's spot is the perfect place for a peaceful mid-week stay. the view is to die for! Sonya and her husband are extremely accommodating and gracious and were very quick to help me out the moment I need something! I highly recommend and I'll definitely be back!

Worth the view

Awesome view, we had great weather, cookout, bonfire & beautiful sunset. Slight challenges entering and exiting. Road that located overlooked is located can be busy.
