The 40 minute hike to the Deep Creek Hot Springs is well worth the effort, and there's so much more natural beauty to see as you explore miles of hiking and OHV trails nearby and right on the property. Weather can be extreme at times, with Winter temps ranging from 20*F to 40* F, and Summer temps peaking at 112F. The cold creek water in the Deep Creek canyon flows all year around, and the 6 creek-side hot spring pools are always full and consistently hot all year around, ranging in temperatures between 90F-108F. The hike to the Deep Creek Hot Springs is fairly steep and can be difficult for some people, especially in warm weather. In order to be prepared with the correct gear to make this hike and know the USFS rules that apply to the area, please educate yourself before coming by visiting the USFS website page for the Deep Creek area and our webpage for the Deep Creek Hot Springs Campground for detailed driving directions to the official trailhead located right on our property. You won't get lost if you park on our property and hike from the trailhead, so make sure you go to the right address. Know before you go! Generally, reservations are not necessary to set up a tent site, but we have a more private area set aside for hipcamp reservations that has separate facilities from the general camping area. We do not recommend bringing children due to occasional nudity that may be seen in the area and the degree of difficulty for the hike. The hike to the hot springs is fairly difficult and everyone’s physical fitness needs to be considered when deciding to take pets, or have children, elderly people, or out-of-shape/over-weight people in your group.

This property is the perfect place to escape the city and immerse yourself in nature. Nestled in the mountains of the high desert, we invite you to come stay in a peaceful serene setting, where beautiful natural desert scenery and mountain views surround you. The 40 minute hike to the Deep Creek Hot Springs is well worth the effort, and there's so much more natural beauty to see as you explore miles of hiking and OHV trails nearby and right on the property. Weather can be extreme at times, with Winter temps ranging from 20*F to 40* F, and Summer temps peaking at 112F. The cold creek water in the Deep Creek canyon flows all year around, and the 6 creek-side hot spring pools are always full and consistently hot all year around, ranging in temperatures between 90F-108F. The hike to the Deep Creek Hot Springs is fairly steep and can be difficult for some people, especially in warm weather. In order to be prepared with the correct gear to make this hike and know the USFS rules that apply to the area, please educate yourself before coming by visiting the USFS website page for the Deep Creek area and our webpage for the Deep Creek Hot Springs Campground for detailed driving directions to the official trailhead located right on our property. You won't get lost if you park on our property and hike from the trailhead, so make sure you go to the right address. Know before you go! Generally, reservations are not necessary to set up a tent site, but we have a more private area set aside for hipcamp reservations that has separate facilities from the general camping area. We do not recommend bringing children due to occasional nudity that may be seen in the area and the degree of difficulty for the hike. The hike to the hot springs is fairly difficult and everyone’s physical fitness needs to be considered when deciding to take pets, or have children, elderly people, or out-of-shape/over-weight people in your group.

The property is lake front overlooking the mountains. Under the deck and on the deck is available to pitch a tent giving you the best view of the lake. Under the deck is the best spot since there is shelter and next to the hot tub, picnic bench and full bathroom. There are kayaks available to rent for a fee and also a grill that can be used but also available for a fee. No open firepits are permitted throughout the Big Bear Valley. Noise ordinance are from 10pm-7am. And yes my neighbors will call the authorities and file a complaint.

Overview

Situated inside the San Bernardino National Forest, about 100 miles from Los Angeles, Big Bear Lake and its namesake town make for a popular getaway, offering year-round recreation. The seven-mile-long lake is particularly popular among anglers, and there are plenty of local companies offering fishing charters and boat tours in the warmer months. There are also two ski resorts in the area: Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. Big Bear camping options include private camping cabin resorts and chalets, while many local campgrounds, including Serrano Campground and Pineknot Campground, are run by the US Forest Service.

The southernmost U.S. stretch of the Coast Ranges, the Peninsular Ranges create a natural buffer between the desert and the urban sprawl of Los Angeles County. Natural areas in the region include the San Bernardino and Angeles National Forests, Mt San Jacinto State Park, and the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument.

If you head east from Big Bear Lake, you'll quickly find yourself out in the desert. While getting to the Mojave Desert National Preserve is a bit of a trek, Joshua Tree National Park and the Salton Sea oasis both offer otherworldly landscapes within a short drive of town.

When to go

Big Bear Lake is a year-round destination, offering snow in the winter and water activities the rest of the year. The lake is open for boating from spring through fall, and summer is particularly popular for stand-up paddleboarding, jet skiing, and swimming. July and August are the warmest months, though temperatures rarely soar above the low 80s, making the area attractive for Angelinos looking for a cooler escape from the city.
